Milena Soporowska

Milena Soporowska (Poland) is a visual artist, art historian, researcher, journalist and curator based in Warsaw, Poland. Her work explores, among other things, the intertwining of everyday life with magic and the occult. She graduated in Art History and Museology from the University of Warsaw, presenting her master’s thesis on the influence of spiritualistic and mediumistic photography on art. She also studied photography at the Association of Polish Art Photographers and Academy of Photography in Warsaw. She was a participant of Sputnik Mentoring Programme and Nikon-NOOR Academy. In 2021 she was selected by Fotofestival as Futures Photography Talent. She is a former ShowOFF Talent at Krakow Photomonth Festival. 

Her works were presented at Krakow Photomonth, Fotofestival in Łódź, TIFF Festival in Wrocław, as well as abroad, including Internationale Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst Salzburg, Getty Images Gallery in London (Renaissance Photography Prize exhibition) and Les Rencontres de la Photographie de Arles (The Family of No Man exhibition held by Cosmos Books). She published her works via Der Greif platform, MAGENTA MAG, Prism Magazine and The Weird Show. Moreover, she took part in “Polish Culture in Relation to Western Esoteric Philosophy in the Years 1890-1939” project launched in 2019-2020 within the framework of “National Programme for the Development of Humanities”, in which she focused on the evolution of Polish mediumistic photography. She runs an independent artistic space Windowlicker.
