Submit your work to participate in the ninth edition of Organ Vida Festival in Zagreb, Croatia

International Photography Festival Organ Vida is inviting all local and foreign photographers and artists to participate in the ninth edition of the Festival with their artworks.

This year’s theme is New Citizens through which artists should interpret the idea of the New Citizen that goes beyond the conventional understanding of its “original definition” limited to the state and the city. Artists should express their voice of resistance, reflect on the citizen as a man-without-places, above the privileges, nationality or devotion to authorities, to show the anti-language. Photographs should present a new understanding of what it means to be alive and to live in the (post)capitalist world marked by a climate change.

A new approach to the medium, outstanding talent, innovative photographic language, artistic quality, relevance, as well as uniqueness of expression will be the main criteria that will guide the professional international jury in assessing the best work.

You can apply through the application form from 22nd February until 1st April 2017.

After the Open Call is finished, jury of professionals including the artists Dana Lixenberg, Christina de Middel, Katrin Koenning and Pieter Hugo, a curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Leila Topic and writer and critic for The Guardian and The Observer Sean O’Hagan, will decide on best art works. The selected artists will be able to represent their work of art through the ninth International Photography Festival Organ Vida that will be held at the Museum of Contemporary Arts in Zagreb, from 8th until 24th September 2017.

Along with a traditional call for photo projects, the International photography festival Organ Vida is also inviting all artists to participate in an Open Call for photography books —OV Photobook Award this year.

Last year, the eighth international photography festival Organ Vida prepared the most demanding program so far, with ten large, remarkable photographic exhibitions, over 30 panel discussions, lectures and interviews, two movies and a series of educational workshops, at 17 locations in the city and thus attracted around 10,000 visitors from Croatia and abroad. As part of the tradition, ninth edition of the Festival will be held in early September at the Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as in a number of museums, galleries and public spaces in Zagreb. The program of the Festival reserves the concept of the exhibition, the discursive, educational, film and entertainment section during the opening week in September.
