The aforementioned exhibition presents the work of fifteen talented photographers from Southeastern Europe. They were selected to take part in a master class for professional photographers, organized by World Press Photo and Robert Bosch Stiftung in 2010. The photographers were asked to produce photo essays covering current issues in their region, a sort of photo record about life in the Balkans during 2010. and 2011.. The aim of the project was to show the new local and regional realities and to inspire “new perspectives” of Southeastern Europe. As people who come from this region, the photographers worked within several subcultures in order to convey new knowledge and foster new thoughts about a space where stereotypes are an everyday occurrence.
The exhibition is also cause for some other events which Documenta is organizing in collaboration with her partners in May 2013, about which you can read more in detail in the program of accompanying events enclosed in this announcement. We would like to invite you to the following event from the program: Discussion – Artists’ contribution to trust-building, which will take place on Friday, May 10, 2013, Karas gallery, starting at 7pm. Sandra Vitaljić, lecturer at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, will be the moderator of the discussion, while the speakers include Ana Opalić, Croatia, Armend Nimanni, Kosovo, and Danko Stjepanović, Croatia.
